I could do with a little less DRAMA in my life...

That’s what I was thinking today about 3:45 as I was trying to calm down my irate student. So I teach high school for a living and I thoroughly enjoy it. It is my first year however and on average it manages to take up at least 50 to 60 hours a week. I’ve never worked so hard in my life!

This month is exceptionally difficult. I’m the choir director and the music director for our school musical “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” based on the Peanuts comic strips by Charles Schultz. It’s a great musical and it’s been a lot of fun to do, but show time is in less than two weeks and its crunch time! I was at school for 7 hours on Saturday rehearsing and working out behind the scene details. I don’t actually add up all the hours I work…it’s way to depressing for my less than 30 thou a year.

So today at 3:45 one of my singers, Snoopy in fact goes DIVA on me. She decided that the choreography I had designed for the class was not as good as the preconceived dance she had in her head. Isn’t this supposed to be all fun and games until someone gets pissed off? She stormed out with threats to quit on me. Now this snoopy is played by a 16 year old Black girl with ATTITUDE to spare. Yep, she did in fact roll her head at me. In my mind I kept thinking Charlie Brown's famous line "I can't stand it. I just can't stand it" Good thing I have a back up Snoopy. All over the song “Suppertime.”

So it took a few hours for me to sort things out and things will hopefully be okay tomorrow but I’m a bit nervous. The show is in two weeks and we’ve got MUCH to do before the curtain goes up.

In any case I did want to put a plug on my blog inviting all my blog friends to come see the show. Its next weekend (fingers crossed) May 18-19, 2007. 7:00 p.m. email me for details! I’d love support!

Hehe... Diva... If you have trouble with her again feel free to give me a buzz. I'll make her a dance that's so hard she'll never complain that she knows better when it comes to choreography again.

Otherwise good luck though. I'm sure the show will great. It's been ages since I've seen it.
